The Special of Shirdi

"Whoever puts his feet on Shirdi Soil, his sufferings would come to an end".

What is Shirdi? According to many, it is only the name of a village or town. It is true. But it is not completely true. Shirdi is more than a mere place. It is something different from an ordinary place. Some other people are of the opinion that it is hut, a pilgrim center, where Sri Sai Baba lived. If we know about Shirdi, then we can change our opinion.

The Guru of Sri Shirdi Sai Baba did Tapas in the caves. The place where he did penance is pure and pious. Therefore it deserves to be protected and well maintained. It is the order of the master to look after that place.

Eating neem leaves only, Sai Baba stayed in Samadhi for 12 years in that sacred place. Days and nights, in the scorching sun and biting cold, and in heavy showers, Sai Baba did ceaseless tapas in that place as a child.

Throughout the night, he lit the lamps in the mosque, using only water as oil in that sacred place. Vedic wisdom and the Upanishadic knowledge were made simple and tasty like a banana and distributed to the common folk as well in that holy place by Sri Sai Baba. It is a place which is purified and made pious by his preaching.

It is a place to which many a devotee is drawn for the Darshan of Baba in various divine forms. Shirdi is a place which is clearest to the heart of Baba.

The five elements and the tempestuous nature were tamed and kept at hay by the Baba at Shirdi. Cyclones and storms were skillfully and easily prevented by the Baba in that place. It is the place where God has descended in a human form.

Divine powers and extraordinary miracles were freely exhibited for the benefit of the common people by the great master Sai Baba in that place. It is a place which is electrified by the divine energy of Sadguru Sri Sai Baba.

The name 'Allah Malik' was repeatedly and incessantly chanted by Baba to show to the world what is Parabrahman. Shirdi is like a mirror of the cosmos in which divinity in its entirety is displayed by the Jagad Guru Sri Sai Baba.

Shirdi is a place of inexhaustible energy. It is a temple of all Gods and spirituality. Lighting the lamp of knowledge, Baba dispelled all darkness of ignorance. In the fires of wisdom, he burnt to ashes all ignorance. The sacred ash of detachment and dispassion and the divine light of knowledge and wisdom were given by him freely, with his hands to all the devotees at Shirdi. By his very look and touch, he removed all pain and suffering from everybody's mind at Shirdi.

The magnetic needle points always to the north. It never falters and shows always the goal. Baba is like the magnet. He shows us the goal and paves the way to attain it. He is an exemplary guide, taking us by his hand to the pinnacles of perfection.

Sai Baba is the very bedrock, nerve center and the very life spirit of Sri Shirdi. Baba has chosen Shirdi as a center of cosmic energy and from there, he spread the light of wisdom to the entire universe, as Sri Rama has chosen Ayodhya for his birthplace, Sri Krishna has selected Brindavan for his sport, Siva sits on Mount Kailash and Lord Venkateshwara has selected the seven hills for his abode. Parabrahman, while descending to the earth chooses a human a form for manifestation and a habitat for his dwelling place. That becomes God's central seat of welfare activities. Shirdi is that spiritual center of loving benedictions a Ayodhya is that of Sri Rama.

The soil of Shirdi speaks smiles and answers our questions. The soil in other places is still, silent and does not speak. The air of Shirdi gives life to the dying and the dead. The air elsewhere is not so powerful.

We have to put in extraordinary efforts to experience Baba. In our place, but in Shirdi, he is available and freely visible to all. Maya is mighty and enslaving elsewhere. But at Shirdi, she is scared of Sai Baba and so cannot dare to approach anybody. It is very difficult even for the mighty men to keep Maya at a distance, but at Shirdi, Maya runs away even from the ordinary mortals. The atmosphere in our places is completely polluted. It is sometimes poisonous even. But at Shirdi everything is pure life saving and life giving.

We find ignorant masses at every other place, but at Shirdi we find the enlightened devotees of Sai Baba. We may strive to get Gnana in our places, but at Shirdi, the absolute knowledge and the highest wisdom are also easily available. We may be happy in our places, but we will be blissfully peaceful at Shirdi. In our places, we may get calmness but at Shirdi we can be spiritually tranquil.

There may be many Gods and temples in other places, but at Shirdi, we find all Gods and Goddesses in Sri Sai Baba. We may find very good Vedantic teachers in our towns and villages, but at Shirdi, we find Sadguru Sai Baba to grant us spiritual insights as well. We may love our dwelling places, but Shirdi draws us wholly towards it by its loving spirituality. Our native place may be our birth places but Shirdi is a place of the holy parent. In our places, we may have our houses, but Shirdi is everybody's home. It is the final abode of all.

Tirupati, Kashi, Gaya, Prayaga, Kedarnath, Badrinath, Mathura, Rameshwaram and Vrindavan are pious places, pilgrim centers, Punyakshetras. Is Shirdi also a Punyakshetra? What is a Punyakshetra? In the field of magnetic energy the power of magnet is enormous. Similarly in a place of punyakshetra, the power of virtue is great. Magnet draws iron pieces. Punyakshetra draws common folks as well. The iron pieces are changed into a magnet. Similarly people are transformed into divinity by a pious place. By visiting a Punvakshetra, we get punya and it is a passport to take us to better Lokas for higher happiness. It will also take us to the top of the spiritual ladder and keep us in a state of Samadhi.

Every time you visit Tirupati, you acquire some punya. That punya liberates you from the shackles of samsara. If not, it will cause your rebirth. Your Punya should take you to a good guru. That Sadguru is at Shirdi. There you will get to know about the path for self-realization, which is beyond Papa and Punya, sin and virtue. Gurukshetra paves the way for Atmasakshatkar. It fulfils the goal of life by granting Moksha. Without a guru, we can't have Mukti or liberation. The all-pervading energy is originated at Shirdi. So it is the center of cosmic energy.
